Henry Morris and The Society
VSCSW was established in 1976 in Richmond, and its first President was co-founder Henry Morris. For 50 years, Henry practiced social work in the Richmond community, providing individual and group psychotherapy. He taught, mentored, and provided clinical supervision to many MSWs, and for 50 years, VSCSW has promoted the highest standards of professional education and clinical social work practice. The Society has now expanded into four Chapters across the state – Eastern, Richmond, Blue Ridge, and Roanoke. Henry was passionate about social work, The Society, and continuing education. He enjoyed seeing our professional community explore and discuss clinical practice together, and took delight in watching young practitioners share their experiences, skills, and insights. There is no better way to honor Henry and his life’s work than continuing to engage in The Society’s educational activities.
